Visit a magical land and help create a better future
There is a vital link between health and environment and we cannot effectively solve the problems of one while ignoring the other.
Global Health Research Foundation and World Wildlife Fund would like to invite you to attend the upcoming International Symposium on Sustainable Health and Environment in Paro, Bhutan in 2012. This event will be hosted by Bhutan’s Ministries of Health and Agriculture and co-sponsored by GHRF and WWF.
This symposium is intended as an "agent of change" to shift the world towards a keener awareness of the interdependence of human health and a healthy environment, and ways of maintaining both through sustainable development. We are organizing speakers and inviting participants who can effectively expand efforts toward deeply integrated approaches to eco-health interventions.
Our goal is to demonstrate effective solutions in environment and health, and clear the path toward meeting Millennium Development Goals through integrated, locally led solutions. We hope to set the stage to allow for the adoption and generalization of effective functioning solutions linking environment and health.
The event will be preceded by a reception with His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, with an opening welcome from the Prime Minister, the Honorable Lyonchen Jigme Yoser Thinley. We have invited Mr. Bill Clinton and Dr. Kofi Annan to participate.
Check back for details later this year for more information about the agenda, speakers, travel details and more.
After the conference, don’t miss the fantastic Bhutanese festival in Phobjika. In addition to the festival, cultural tours and treks will be set up for those who wish.
